Mono Lake is an amazing place near the California/Nevada border (http://tinyurl.com/ywuta8
). Tufa formations and some of the darkest skies around provide for dramatic photos. I illuminated the tufa and plants with a flashlight (light painting) while I was taking this long exposure. The sky is naturally blue at night just as it is during the day, but our eyes can't sense colors at low light levels.
